"These six things the LORD hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look, A lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil." (Pro 6:16-18 NKJV)
In a day when many people think that God is little more than a really powerful grandfatherly figure who would never express His disapproval of anything, it is all too easy for those of us in the church to adopt a view of our Creator that leaves almost no room for divine hatred. Yet, if we want to honor the Lord, we will certainly want to pay attention whenever Scripture speaks of those things that God hates. (Tabletalk, Sept 24, 2015)
As I read this passage this morning, my attention was particularly drawn to the phrase... "hands that shed innocent blood"... and I immediately thought of all the doctors, nurses and women who murder babies with impunity. They think of the innocent as nothing more than a clump of tissue just like the Nazi's looked upon the Jews as filthy animals...a subhuman (cavemen, if you would) species.
Then I think of Islam, and the havoc it is causing around the globe. Rivers of blood...headless bodies lying in piles... the brutally murdered lying in long ditches waiting to be covered over with dirt (this one also makes me think of the Nazi's)... the girls and women raped and murdered before the eyes of their husbands/fathers.... countless hordes chanting "allah akbar" to their demon god, working themselves into ecstatic frenzy...
And then I... or others like me... Christians who have decided to stand up and speak out against the mounting evil that is taking over this world are told that we are "embarrassing Christ"... that we're "in the flesh"... "displaying hate"... that we're not "Christ-like"... and I wonder about the "Christ" they are thinking of?!? Their Christ must be that grandfatherly, Santa Claus, hippie-type figure I wrote of earlier... tossing flowers all around and saying, "peace", "love", "happiness".
This...is NOT the Lord Jesus Christ. This is an idol you've fashioned in your mind. Jesus is the LORD. He came once as the Suffering Servant...but when He returns He will be the Conquering KING! He won't be tossing flowers, but swinging a sword because judgment has come. He has offered us His terms of peace with Him...and we...YOU...need to settle out of court!
